Teens: Academy for Programming
Programming Camp with Python, C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio .NETLearn to write great code while having an incredibly good time! Programming skills are extremely important for anyone who is interested in a technical career or who is preparing for a college computer science or engineering program, so don’t miss this unique opportunity to get ahead of the pack! In this two-week hands-on programming camp, students will learn Python and C++, two of the most powerful object-oriented programming languages for game design and application development. Python, the scripting language behind hits such as Battlefield 2142, Civilization IV, and the Freedom Force series, is the same language used by professional game programmers and artists. C++ is an extremely powerful programming language used by millions of programmers around the world and one of the most commonly used languages for writing applications and creating computer/console-based games. Students will use the leading compiler, Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, as they explore variables, loops, functions, artificial intelligence and more — all while creating a series of fun games to challenge classmates and friends! Students are encouraged to stay in the residential program for a complete immersion experience and extra opportunities for evening fun. Academy for Programming instructors are a combination of university-level faculty and industry professionals. An optional eight units of Stanford Continuing Studies Credit is available for this two-week program wherever it is offered.
